Porirua City joins a growing number of Emergency Management providers that have stepped up to the challenge of engaging with their community and providing them with practical tools to help prepare for emergencies. Porirua Readynet Launch Sept 08

Emergency Manager at Porirua, Trevor Farmer, quickly recognised the benefits of having Readynet available within the city. “Readynet works for us in several ways, by giving people the tools to prepare their emergency plans (using the online templates), giving us easy access to those plans without us having to maintain them ourselves and being able to alert key people in an emergency via the Readynet Alerting system.”

Gone are the days of civil defence responses only being about handing out emergency blankets and food. Information sharing and communications are key components to responding to emergencies. The ongoing message to the populace is “Be prepared”. Readynet encourages readiness and preparedness within the community and provides vital information about the community to the emergency services responding to emergency events.
